Ngari in Gikuyu means Leopard, that fierce predator of the African Savannah. Wangari, daughter of a Leopard is shrewd but elusive, strong and secretive, she loves life and adapts well to different environments, but she growls when angered and purrs gently when she is happy. Wangari had no idea how powerful and enigmatic she was despite overcoming several odds to go through school, and public university in her homeland and abroad. Through her eyes she takes us on an adventure, of her successes and failures. The narrative begins in her childhood in Jacaranda, a small rural town of amazing serenity, of red dirt roads that were occasionally covered in the delicate purple flowers. We ride along her life's journey uncovering layers of her dark feminine beauty, strength and resilience. Central to Wangari's life, is her tall, dark, handsome, but stern husband Stoll, with whom she raises three children, amidst alcoholism, infidelity, and abuse. Her fight for freedom tears her from her precious children, drags her into depression, but Wangari begins to discover her worth, the meaning of true freedom, peace, happiness and victory.
