Out of a love for children the author was inspired to write a story about her beloved dog Ollie and the neighborhood children he played with. "Schaeffer & Ollie - Hoodscapades" and "Schaeffer & Ollie - Meet the Gang" are stories derived from her experiences growing up. The books capture many adventures between a little boy, visiting his grandparents for the summer in their neighborhood, and his dog Ollie.
