Backstory: They say tragedy comes in threes. I lost my grandmother, my daughter and her father all in the span of a month. My grandmother held my daughter's hand to the great beyond while I peeled her father's hands from my neck. Between fear of loneliness and the gradual escalation of abuse, I didn't realize how bad it had gotten. I didn't leave even though all the signs were there.
