James Stone is a successful Black Man living in Charlotte, North Carolina. He has experienced the world in a way that is painful, heartbreaking, and often terrifying. I Can Finally See is a story about viewing his reality through his eyes. In the United States, the Black population is charged with 37.5 percent of violent crime and 28.1 percent of property crime, while the White population is charged with 59 percent of violent crime and 68.7 percent of property crime. Black Men only comprise 7.4 percent of the U.S. population, yet are almost half of the U.S. prison population. A Black Man is nearly three times more likely to be killed by a Police Officer, than a White Man. Over 17 percent of Black Americans were unarmed when they were killed by police. Voices are not being heard. Pleas for justice are being ignored. Inequality is pervasive. James and Maggie come together to understand each other, and to recognize the need for unified voices, action, and lasting change.
