Faith, focus and follow through. What does this mean, and how can we use these three simple steps in moment by moment interactions. My prayer is that this book will make a fundamental difference in the way our black community is perceived. With everything we have going on today, how do we get back to being as one? When you look at the civil rights movement in the 1950's and 60's and how we as a people struggled for equal rights for African Americans in this country, one could say we made changes because we had a great leader in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We followed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. but it was the church, Dr. King's faith in God and guidance as a leader. As a community of believers, we as a people all had faith. We were committed to the movement to affect change, through our faith in God we followed-through. We prayed as a people, we organized, we gave each other rides to work during the bus boycotts, we held each other up. We helped each other get jobs; we didn't allow someone else's child to act up or to not respect an adult or an elder. We had respect for our pastors and leaders. We didn't know more than they did It was a time when it wasn't all about me and what can "I have or get," or "he or she" has more than I do. We were all about what can I do to serve others so that I can get my Crowns in Heaven? We need to go back to the past, in essence we need to go blackwards to take back our communities and change our brand.
