Leaving South Central LA was something Silky didn't vision himself doing again. When his mother demanded he leave due to an increase in crimes being committed in the hood, he decided New York would be the move to make. Silky had previously received a scholarship to study arts at NYU and decided to take them up on the offer. He was already somewhat accomplished with his music without a degree, so it just made sense to take his career to the next level.
