Butterfly

A butterfly is a symbol of change, joy, and color. A butterfly also is and was considered a miracle of transformation and resurrection. The connotation of the symbol of the butterfly once was initially negative and some people in the old days thought it to be the spirit of death. I chose Butterfly as the title of my book due to close friends and family always referring to me as their butterfly since I was a young girl. On a more personal level this book in an ode to a close friend of mine who passed away a few years back. His signature is incorporated in the butterfly on the cover of the book as well as a couple in the book. He always saw something in me, that for a long time I was unable to see in myself. A lot of these poems reflect the pain and heartbreak I have experienced over time. When I write I exude my spirit and energy to let go of my feelings and emotions, turning them into beautiful, soothing words. Almost like a caterpillar transcending to its higher self to form into a butterfly. "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are beings having human experiences."
