On a beautiful suburban side street, while on his way to school, 9 year old Ethan hears the loud screeching of a car's tires. Then, before he can react, he witnesses his little sister hit, pinned underneath, and dragged by a drunk driver's car across the merciless surface of the concrete to her death. With the torment of losing a child too much to bear, Ethan's parents fall into a downward spiral, a spiral he is forced to watch, a spiral infested with drugs and alcohol. But most importantly, a spiral that strips away their hunger for success so badly that it drives them from the suburbs back to the ghetto they'd worked so hard to escape.
