In a world where many people want to look like, talk like, and act like a Black woman, whether, in mockery or to imitate us, I decided to find my voice and write a collection of poetry that specifically speaks to my experiences as a Black woman living in America.

My poetry focuses on my journey with anxiety and depression, relationships and heartbreak, and my healing journey. I know that my experiences are unique but my hope is that Black women, all over the world, will read this collection and find a sense of sisterhood, feel seen, and feel heard within my poetry. I also invite women and men of other races to read these poems, because there is something in there for everyone, especially if you have experienced living with depression or anxiety.

The poems are candid, thoughtful, and vulnerable, and I consider them a love letter to Black women everywhere. Your voice matters, you do not have to be strong all of the time, and you deserve to rest and have peace in your life. I hope this book speaks to your heart and to your mind.

Excerpt from the Book:

I shout it from the rooftops

and I whisper it in my dreams...

Universe,

remove anyone from my life

who means me harm

or wishes ill against me...

direct their steps away from me

with full speed

and make no exceptions...

I have no room in my life

for the burden of

failed good intentions.
