Teddy: Theodore Carmichael; lost his wife Saffire and an unborn baby. Chapter One starts with Theodore Carmichael, who had lost his wife and unborn child in an appalling automobile accident, making arrangements for he and his two friends who have been spending some time with him to visit briefly in Las Vegas. There is Robert Smith, or Bobby, who Teddy considers to be purposeless in life. On the other hand, Alric, with whom he had grown up, lives and works in Jamaica, and appears to be doing well. They would visit a pub where a group from Jamaica named Honey, would be singing. Karen, a prominent member of the group "connects" with Teddy. The two of them will play prominent roles in the novel.
